The International Boxing Association (AIBA) has the great pleasure in announcing that the list of 34 Olympic Boxing Referees and Judges who have been selected to officiate during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games has been updated following the completion of two AIBA Olympic Referees & Judges workshops in China and Taiwan last month.

The revised list includes four new referee and judges from the Olympic Boxing Referees and Judges reserve pool with Shadrack Monethi (Lesotho), Johan Barnard (South Africa), Benny Naesman (Sweden) and James Beckles (Trinidad & Tobago) replacing Anatoly Zaytsev (Latvia), Louis Edmond Folette (Seychelles), Roberto Ramon Gutierrez (Venezuela) and Edward Dyer (Wales)*.

A requirement for the AIBA Olympic Referees & Judges originally selected on April 4, 2008 was to participate in the AIBA R&J workshops and display a commendable level of competence during the practical workshop at the President Cup in Taiwan, which was held from May 25-31.

*Due to the country quota system, Mr. Dyer has been removed from the AIBA Olympic Boxing Referees and Judges list but will still officiate at the 2008 Olympic Games as a Referee and Judge Coordinator.
